Series Overview:
Calling all Young Chefs entering grades six through ten! From the curious beginning cook to the passionate enthusiast, this 4-week series of classes will step up your budding chef’s culinary skills. This series is designed and led by Executive Pastry Chef Catie Wiley, who has helped thousands of kids gain confidence in the kitchen in a career spanning fifteen years. We will learn core concepts and cooking techniques over a 4-week series. We’ll have four series from August through November, and each series is structured the same:

• Week 1: Knife skills, which we’ll use to prepare a soup or stew, and a snack or appetizer.
• Week 2: Learn different cooking methods and prepare an entree with a side. 
• Week 3: Learn to bake, which could be a sweet item, a yeasted item, or both.
• Week 4: Breakfast, covering an egg dish and another breakfast component. 

These skills are essential for any independent young adult in the kitchen, and is the groundwork for professional training. All skill levels are welcome, including beginner. Bring an open mind and an open palate! Each week, the kids will get to eat everything they make. We have just one simple rule: “Don’t ‘YUCK’ someone else’s ‘YUM!’”

September 2026 Edition:
We begin our September edition south of the border with Tortilla Soup and Pico de Gallo. Students will chop, dice and season their way to tasty perfection. We will follow that up in week 2 with a comfort food entree of Swedish Meatballs with Mushroom Gravy over Mashed Potatoes. Our week 3 baking lesson will include freshly Baked Cinnamon Rolls with a tangy Cream Cheese Frosting, a must-have skill for any baker. Last but not least, week 4 focuses on the first meal of the day: breakfast! Students will prepare a Frittata – a baked egg dish to share – as well as warm, cozy Blueberry Crumb Muffins.

Students are responsible for helping clean the kitchen and dishes (the most essential skill!). Typically, a full meal will not be served during class, but we will taste items as they are available throughout class and take home the food we have prepared. Due to the nature of teamwork, not all food accommodations can be made. Students are welcome to learn how to make a dish even if they will not be able to eat it. The menus will not be modified, but we will discuss modifications that can be made at home. This is a fun series that will inspire your Young Chefs for a lifetime.

Please click here for a full description of our policies and FAQ’s. Finalization of your registration for your child tells us that you have read and understand them.  Below is a summary of some of the key info: 

• For the safety of all participants, we require the following: (1) Long hair must be tied back, restrained, or covered during class. (2) Closed-toe, non-slip shoes must be worn at all times in the kitchen. No sandals or open-toed footwear permitted. (3) Appropriate kitchen attire is required. Long pants are recommended to protect against potential burns or spills. Participants who do not comply with these safety requirements may be asked to adjust their attire or may be unable to participate in cooking activities. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe learning environment.
• Please enjoy a 10% discount on all items in our retail store during the full calendar day/night of your class or event. Our retail store will be open for browsing prior to class, during any breaks, and after class. 
• For multi-session series, we will gladly give you a full refund if you need to cancel more than three weeks prior to the start of the first class in the series. Within three weeks of the start of a series, no refunds or credits will be given. Please note that any refund issued for classes purchased using a Gift Certificate or Account Credit will result in reinstatement of the original Gift Card or Account Credit and will bear the same expiration date. Account Credits issued for cancelations within three weeks of a class will expire one year from the date of issuance. We reserve the right to cancel a class for any reason, at any time, in which case you will receive a full refund. In the event your child misses a class in the series or camp, no refunds will be given and it is not possible to make up the class(es) in a future similar series. Likewise, once the series or camp has begun, no substitutions will be allowed since the series is designed for the classes to build upon each other.
• If (a) you’d like your child to sit with another registered guest, or (b) have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know in the Comments section of your registration after reading our full description of policies and information about classes. Please note that children on the same registration form will automatically be seated together.
• Your registration tells us that you have read through the class description including the age requirements for that particular class.
• For Young Chefs (entering grades 6 through 10) classes and series: Your child must be entering or in sixth grade by the time the class or series begins. We reserve the right to check the age of your child. You must provide an Under 18 Waiver that is signed by a parent or legal guardian. Click here for a copy of the Under 18 Waiver. We encourage you to download, print, and sign the waiver and bring it to class with your child. If someone other than the parent signs a Waiver, they will need a legal document to be presented that shows without question that they have the legal authority to sign a Waiver on behalf of your child at that time. Without an appropriately signed Waiver, your child will not be allowed to attend the class. If someone other than the parent drops off your child and requests to sign on behalf of a child, they will need evidence that they are a legal guardian for that child. Please choose the class that is right for the developmental level and maturity of your child.
