Class Description:
Pack your spatulas and whisks, we're taking our baking global this summer! We invite your Junior Chef (kids age 9-14) to join our kitchens for a journey around the world learning to bake. Experienced instructor Catie Wiley has designed an interactive four-day summer baking camp where your budding chefs (ages 9-14) can experience foods and flavors from all over Europe as they learn to bake delicious recipes.
Chef Catie will start our European flavor journey in Italy to make delicious Cannoli Dip, the famous Biscotti, and savory Garlic Knots! We then head across the pond to make traditional Scottish Shortbread and a beautiful (and very summer-y) British Berry Trifle. Next, we land in France to make a decadent and rich Chocolate Mousse and a Tart au Citron (French Lemon Tart), the perfect sweet and citrusy treat for the summer heat. Finally, we’re visiting the Mediterranean coast of Greece to make Pita Bread and Kourabiedes (Greek Butter Cookies). Your Junior Chef chef will be sampling all the flavors of the world without ever leaving our kitchens.
This camp is designed to teach kids (ages 9-14) essential baking skills like mixing, shaping dough, and working with pastry while boosting creativity and confidence in the kitchen. By the end of camp, your child will have the skills (and the recipes!) to bake delicious summer-inspired dishes. And each day, your Junior Chef will take something home from class that the whole family can enjoy!
Notes:
Please click here for a full description of our policies and FAQ’s. Finalization of your registration tells us that you have read and understand them. Below is a summary of some of the key information, but it is not all-inclusive.
- For the safety of all participants, we require the following: (1) Long hair must be tied back, restrained, or covered during class. (2) Closed-toe, non-slip shoes must be worn at all times in the kitchen. No sandals or open-toed footwear permitted. (3) Appropriate kitchen attire is required. Long pants are recommended to protect against potential burns or spills. Participants who do not comply with these safety requirements may be asked to adjust their attire or may be unable to participate in cooking activities. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe learning environment.
- Please enjoy a 10% discount on all items in our retail store during the full calendar day/night of your class or event. Our retail store will be open for browsing prior to class, during any breaks, and after class.
- For multi-session classes and camps, we will gladly give you a full refund if you need to cancel more than three weeks prior to the start of the first class in the series and/or camp. Within three weeks of the start of a series, no refunds or credits will be given. Please note that any refund issued for classes purchased using a Gift Certificate or Account Credit will result in reinstatement of the original Gift Card or Account Credit and will bear the same expiration date. Account Credits issued for cancelations within three weeks of a class will expire one year from the date of issuance. We reserve the right to cancel a class for any reason, at any time, in which case you will receive a full refund. In the event your child misses a class in the series or camp, no refunds will be given and it is not possible to make up the class(es) in a future similar series. Likewise, once the series or camp has begun, no substitutions will be allowed since the series is designed for the classes to build upon each other.
- If (a) you’d like to sit with another registered guest, or (b) have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know in the Comments section of your registration after reading our full description of policies and information about classes. Please note that children on the same registration form will automatically be seated together.
- Your registration tells us that you have read through the class description including the age requirements for that particular class.
- For Junior Chef (ages 9-14) classes and camps: Your child must be at least 9 years old as of the first class date (or as of the date of the first class of a series or camp) and no more than 14 years old. We reserve the right to check the age of your child. You must provide an Under 18 Waiver that is signed by a parent or legal guardian. Click here for a copy of the Under 18 Waiver. We encourage you to download, print, and sign the waiver and bring it to class with your child. If someone other than the parent signs a Waiver, they will need a legal document to be presented that shows without question that they have the legal authority to sign a Waiver on behalf of your child at that time. Without an appropriately signed Waiver, your child will not be allowed to attend the class. If someone other than the parent drops off your child and requests to sign on behalf of a child, they will need evidence that they are a legal guardian for that child. Please choose the class that is right for the developmental level and maturity of your child.
